The journal

Closer to the source.

Gaming news works best when you can tell where it came from. Our archive is built around official game announcements distributed through Steam Community Announcements.

What a news brief contains

Each page identifies the game, announcement type and original publication date. Where available, a short, clearly marked opening excerpt gives a taste of the announcement. The source button takes you to the full publisher post.

Our contextual descriptions of games are distinct from quoted publisher text. Briefs do not reproduce full articles or patch notes, and are not presented as first-hand reporting or reviews.

Dates matter

Dates on story cards refer to the original announcements. The archive includes historical material. Events may have ended, prices may have changed, and a newer update may supersede an older one. Refer to the linked developer post for the scope of an announcement.

Artwork and attribution

Images come from the corresponding game’s Steam store assets or announcement media and are stored locally for this edition. Game artwork is illustrative and is not always a screenshot of the specific update. Ownership remains with the respective rights holders. See sources and image credits.
